Celebrating the Holidays at Citizens
Throughout December, the Citizens community enjoyed parties, daytrips,
and traditions that brought everyone together. Here are just some of our holiday highlights:
Hanukkah Traditions with Noah Ackereizen
In a festive holiday video, Noah Ackereizen shared his favorite Hanukkah traditions,
including lighting the menorah, eating latkes, and spinning dreidels. View here.
‘There’s No Place Like Home for the Holidays’
Patrick Black, Robert Behrendt, Randy Cosby, John Volpe, Frank Billadello, Richard Krinsky, and staff of the Ontario Avenue residence in Plainview hosted their annual holiday party with family members and friends. Everyone enjoyed the amazing holiday decorations, listening to music, and eating delicious food. The highlight of the evening was when Patrick, Robert, Randy, John, Frank, and Richard opened their gifts revealing custom pillows printed with family photos.
Snowflakes and Sparkles!
The Snowflakes and Sparkles Party on December 11 was a night to remember. Held at The Sterling,
everyone enjoyed showing off their favorite dance moves on the dance floor, eating a delicious catered dinner, and taking pictures with Santa Claus and the Grinch.
Spreading Holiday Cheer
One could say that gift-giving is Citizens’ “love language.” Eileen Williams helped Jerri Walker,
Volunteer Coordinator, wrap presents for families in need.
Congrats to the Lucky Winners
Laughter filled the air as Christopher J. O’Connor, Chief Operations Officer, and Sallyanne Burgess, Vice President of Operations,
announced winners of the Annual Holiday Basket Raffle on December 18.
When staff heard their names, they made their way over to the administrative office to claim their gift!
Holiday Daytrips
Housemates at IRAs across Long Island enjoyed holiday-themed daytrips.
Jamie Allen, Jenny Stillwell, and Sarah Chardavoyne, housemates at the Pickwick Drive residence in Syosset,
saw “Barnaby Saves Christmas” at Theatre Three in Port Jefferson. Afterwards, they each took a picture with the cast.
Over at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, the LuminoCity Fantasy Winter Fairyland shone brightly!
Megan Schuster and Erica Sang, housemates from the Saxon Avenue residence in Bay Shore, and Samuel Morales, Arielle Laser, Douglas Howe, Jason Pollack and Lee Strauss, housemates at the Red Spring Lane residence in Glen Cove, explored the light displays. There were plenty of opportunities to take photos to remember the day.
