Meet the Incoming Director of the Shoreham Intermediate Care Facility: Nicole Banovich

Nicole BanovichIn June, Nicole Banovich, Director of Nursing, will begin her tenure as Director of the Shoreham Intermediate Care Facility (ICF), on Mary Gilleran’s retirement.

In this role, Nicole will oversee day-to-day operations of the ICF, ensuring the highest quality of supports for the nearly 100 people who reside at the facility while maintaining compliance with federal and New York State regulations, and agency policy and procedures. She will also advance the agency’s commitment to person-centered services — supporting people to participate in decision-making at every level of service.

“I appreciate the opportunity to step into this role and will build on the strong foundation that Mary’s put in place,” Nicole said. “I look forward to continuing the focus on people’s needs and empowering a team dedicated to person-centered excellence.”

Nicole has led nursing operations at the ICF for the past 2 years. She began her career at the Shoreham ICF in 2011 as a Direct Support Professional (DSP), and through the agency’s Tuition Reimbursement program, pursued her nursing degree while continuing to work weekends at the ICF.

With just two months until Mary’s retirement, the two are working closely on a thoughtful and seamless transition, including regulatory oversight, family communication, and interdisciplinary team management.

“Nicole brings clinical experience and a strong understanding of person-centered practices,” said Mary. “I’m confident that she will continue to move Shoreham forward with her mission-focused leadership.”
