A Day of Giving at Jersey Mike’s Subs in Hicksville

Housemates from the Ontario Avenue Residence—Patrick Black, Robert Behrendt, Randy Cosby, John Volpe, Frank Billadello, and Richard Krinsky—were joined by Valley Stream’s Saddle Rock Road Residence, as well as staff and Vice President of Operations Sallyanne Burgess for delicious sandwiches supporting a great cause.

Jersey Mike’s Day of Giving donates 100% of sales to charities, including Make-a-Wish New York, which grants life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. The idea to participate in the event came from Ontario Avenue Manager Tammy Vallancourt, last year.

“All of a sudden, I started hearing about it, I looked it up online and I just thought, ‘Why not?’ It’s a way for the men we support to give back,” said Tammy. “We work hard to give back and it’s in our community. Everybody loves the food and we’ve been coming and eating.”

“At Jersey Mike’s, giving is part of our mission statement,” said Jim Denburg, who owns Jersey Mike’s franchises including the Hicksville location. “That philosophy has been part of our brand since Founder Peter Cancro bought his first sub shop 50 years ago. We are grateful to our local community that came in during our 15th Annual Month of Giving to support Make-A-Wish so we can grant life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.”
