Lavern Christie Bedward, DSP, Helps People Supported Gain More Independence
Meet Lavern Christie Bedward, a DSP at the Citizens Port Washington Boulevard residence in Manhasset.
Lavern began working as a DSP at the agency in March 2022, after working as a home health aide.
Over her three years here, Lavern has supported people to gain more independence and develop skills that will increase self-sufficiency.
For Lavern, a special part of the job is spending time with the people supported and creating opportunities to celebrate.
“I love helping people feel important,” Lavern said. “I love when they have birthdays, to make them feel extra special.”
