An AHRC Foundation Walk Success!
Citizens fundraising teams walk and raise money for disability services
On the morning of Sunday, November 2, the Citizens Options Unlimited community joined over 1,100 walkers for the 44th annual AHRC Foundation Walk, raising over $93,000 in support of children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
This year’s Walk comes at a critical time, as disability services face ongoing challenges from cuts to Medicaid, SNAP, and other essential programs. Yet together, nearly 100 teams stepped forward to raise awareness and champion inclusion and opportunity for children and adults with IDD.
Among Citizens teams walking for a great cause was Team Amanda 2025, led by Team Captain Karen Broderick Anci, who raised $13,105 in support of Amanda Broderick, a Camp Loyaltown camper. Amanda’s family and friends walked in celebration of the wonderful year Amanda had and the importance of enhancing disability services now and in the future.
Another standout team was Team Rugby, led by Michael, Beth, and Sydney Ross, who raised $4,772. Team Rugby brought together housemates, staff and families from the Rugby Rd. Residence in Westbury, ready to make a difference.
Go TY TY!, led by Leng Lao, a Citizens Board Member, and her son Tyler, kept the energy high raising $2,835. Go TY TY has become a cherished tradition and annual fundraiser for family and friends.
To every walker and the nearly 100 volunteers who made the day possible — thank you for your joining us under the banner, “Moving ahead, leaving no one behind.” See you next year for another unforgettable walk!
