Jamie Allen Shines in Personal Outcome Measures Presentation and Pursuing Her Goals
Jamie Allen, who resides at the Pickwick Drive residence in Syosset, practiced her Personal Outcome Measures (POMs) presentation throughout the fall and had the chance to share the agency’s Person-Centered Planning process with visiting specialists from CQL | The Council on Quality and Leadership on Thursday, October 23.
Citizens Options Unlimited, along with partner agency AHRC Nassau, is among nine organizations in the United States to have achieved CQL’s highest accreditation, Person-Centered Excellence Accreditation, With Distinction.
To maintain this accreditation, people supported and staff share on an ongoing basis how POMs‘ 21 indicators of success appear in the lives of people supported, such as choice, social capital, health, and relationships, which enable people to dream bigger.
“Your dreams, your future, and your life,” are just some of the areas POMs covers, Jamie said. Jamie has many dreams, and one is to always see her friends.
“She is so busy, and she doesn’t want to miss out on the fun activities,” said her sister Angela Sigmon. “She has that connection and she’s living her life, doing things she enjoys.”
Jamie also loves to get her nails done, and she spends many weekends going on day trips with friends she lives with. Jamie is someone you’ll always see with a baseball cap and jersey, representing her favorite teams, the New York Yankees or the Mets.
Recently, Jamie went to Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament in Lyndhurst, New Jersey, and Theatre Three in Port Jefferson for a local production of Annie.
Despite her busy schedule, Jamie continues to excel in her role at The Home Depot.
“Certain goals for her are very important,” Angela said. “Doing well at her job is very important. Going out into the community with her friends that she lives with is very important to her. Seeing shows, going to plays, arts & crafts, going to dances or sporting events, she loves doing stuff like that, so she will communicate that she wants to focus on her interests in her spare time.”
And most importantly, Jamie values her family, spending time with her sister, brother-in-law, uncle, and her 11-year-old nephew, whom she always talks about.
“She has a very kind heart,” Angela said.
On November 11, she will return to the Brookville mansion to present her Person-Centered Plan.
