For the women who live at the Pickwick Drive house, vacation is about sharing new experiences, strengthening friendships, and making memories together.
From June 21–24, Sarah Chardavoyne, Amanda Badke, Jenny Stillwell, Jamie Allen, and Lizzy Grogan traveled upstate to the Kartrite Resort & Indoor Waterpark in Monticello, for four days of relaxation, laughter, and adventure.
“The ladies did enjoy spending a lot of time together,” said Pamela Iliou, Assistant House Manager at Pickwick, who remembered how the ladies enjoyed knocking on each other’s doors and laughing when they saw their housemates on the other side.
Kartrite offered plenty of things to do during their vacation. Jamie especially enjoyed relaxing in the warm waters of Affinity Springs, the resort’s jacuzzi pool.
“That was nice,” Jamie said.
While some of the women spent time at the waterpark, others pursued different activities. Lizzy liked heading poolside, while Sarah spent most of her time in the Playopolis Arcade and Van Winkle’s Alley. Although she didn’t win a four-foot Mario plush, she brought home a smaller Mario as a souvenir.

Another highlight of the trip was the delicious food, from pizza and hamburgers at the waterpark’s restaurant to the shrimp and pasta at a nearby seafood restaurant.
Jenny, Sarah, and Jamie even found time for some dancing.
A lot of planning goes into trips like this, from making sure the van is ready for the road to arranging staff who can travel overnight. Vacations are thoughtfully considered on a case-by-case basis to make sure the right supports and resources are in place for a safe and successful trip.
Thanks to the dedication and careful planning of the Citizens staff, the trip was another memorable summer getaway for the Pickwick roommates and a wonderful follow-up to the Rocking Horse Ranch Resort the year before.
