Citizens Options Unlimited is part of a network of organizations working together to support people with developmental disabilities across every stage of life. Through our partnerships with AHRC Nassau, Brookville Center for Children’s Services, and the AHRC Foundation, individuals and families have access to a broad range of connected services—from early childhood through adulthood and beyond.
Each organization plays a different role, but we work together to make supports more consistent, coordinated, and responsive to each person’s needs.
AHRC Nassau
AHRC Nassau provides leadership and shared infrastructure that strengthens our programs and operations.
Many people supported by Citizens also take part in AHRC Nassau’s day programs, employment services, and community-based supports. This creates a more connected experience across daily life—where people live, work, and build relationships.
As needs change over time, supports can evolve. For people who require a higher level of care, Citizens Options Unlimited offers Intermediate Care Facilities (ICFs) with more comprehensive, 24-hour supports—allowing people to remain within a familiar and trusted system.
Brookville Center for Children’s Services
Brookville Center for Children’s Services provides early childhood and school-based services for children and families.
Families connected to Brookville Center may also access respite and other supports through Citizens Options Unlimited—creating a coordinated experience for both the child and their families.
AHRC Foundation
AHRC Foundation provides financial strength, long-term stability, and planning tools for Citizens Options Unlimited. When public funding falls short, the Foundation steps in—raising funds and making targeted investments that support programs, staff, and facilities.
The Foundation also administers pooled supplemental needs trusts, helping families plan for the future while protecting public benefits and enhancing quality of life.
A Connected System of Support
Together, these organizations create a network of support that grows with the person and their family. From early childhood through adulthood, services are connected, relationships are sustained, and supports evolve—so people can continue to receive the care and guidance they need over time.
