Red, white, and blue were front and center as residents, families, and staff celebrated America250 and Independence Day with friendship, food, and fireworks.
The celebrations began at the Helen Kaplan Center, where residents gathered under shaded canopies for a campus barbeque. Music filled the air as everyone caught up with one another in patriotic outfits and accessories, while enjoying summertime favorites, including hamburgers, macaroni salad, and red, white, and blue Bomb Pop popsicles.
The festivities continued at Citizens houses throughout Suffolk and Nassau counties. At the Ontario Avenue house in Plainview, housemates gathered around the dining table for a holiday barbecue and celebrated America’s birthday with a Fudgie the Whale cake. At the Jeanne Road house in Lake Grove, housemates went out to watch a professional fireworks display.
