Exceptional service and dedication were recognized on June 30 as Citizens Options Unlimited staff were recognized at the Employees of the Quarter celebration.
“Each day, you go above and beyond, not just meeting expectations, but raising the bar, and somehow you all make it look easy,” said Stanfort J. Perry, CEO.
The event’s honorees included Samantha Letts and Roselene Sylvestre, Direct Support Professionals from the Helen Kaplan Center, and Jennifer Bonarrigo, Assistant Director of Operational Support.
“Recognition like this is no small feat. After all, being selected as Employee of the Quarter means you managed to impress your colleagues, in addition to that, your supervisors and, most importantly, the people we support—and they are the reason we are all here,” Stanfort said.
Samantha Letts, DSP at Helen Kaplan Center
Known for her positive attitude, Samantha goes above and beyond every day to support the people who live at the Helen Kaplan Center. She enjoys joining the people she supports on community trips and is always willing to help with doctors’ appointments.
“Samantha is passionate about what she does and truly cares for the people she supports,” said Marta Garavito, Director of Helen Kaplan Center.
Recently, Samantha provided companionship and care during a hospital stay for a person supported.
“The sister was very comfortable knowing Samantha was taking care of her loved one,” Marta said. “She knows that her loved one is in very capable and caring hands.”
Rosalene Sylvestre, DSP at Helen Kaplan Center
Rosalene is a valued member of the Helen Kaplan Center team, recognized for her compassion and patience.
When challenges come up, Rosalene helps everyone feel at ease by focusing on creating an environment where teamwork creates solutions.
Rosalene goes above and beyond in helping the people she supports feel comfortable, learning about what helps each person relax. Fellow staff often observe her and learn so that they can help the people they support feel more comfortable too.
“Rosalene’s very caring, very committed to the people she supports, and she is just such a good role model for her team,” Marta said.
Jennifer Bonarrigo, Assistant Director of Operational Support
Jennifer plays a key role in residential operations and is always the first to offer support and help when needed.
Jennifer stands out because she takes the time to get to know the people she supports and ensures they have what they need to be happy, healthy, and safe. She also works hard to help staff do their jobs more easily so they can focus on supporting others.
“Jen has been my go-to at Citizens when I began my career, and she has helped me connect the dots on so many pressing issues, which created continuity for program,” said Deanna Allen, Director of Residential Services. “I am so grateful to you for that.”
She knows each Individualized Residential Alternative (IRA) very well and helps support new staff so they can succeed.
