Donate in Memory of Jackie Joyce-Troy
On March 8, 2016, we lost my beloved sister, Jackie Joyce-Troy after a three-year courageous battle against breast cancer. Jackie was a loving, caring, and supportive presence in our lives—her warmth, strength, and passion for individuals with special need “Reach for the Stars” especially her boys Brian and Aidan. She was a devoted mom, sister, a passionate advocate, and a true friend to so many.
Since early 2000’s until her passing, she was a figure in the AHRC Community as very passionate parent advocate, mentor, and a compassionate leader rallying “Jackie’s People” to joining the mission. After her passing and trying to navigate life without her I finally realized that all she ever wanted for her boys was doing what every mom should do fostering an environment to keep their Child “Happy, Safe and Learning”.
To do that she welcomed the AHRC community into her family and by embracing and accepting her children’s autism diagnoses. With gratitude and grace Jackie always found ways to contribute to or simply thank the AHRC Staff by throwing a Teacher Appreciation Event or leading a Fundraiser for the residential programs or simply coaching a friend on how to get a Medicare waiver.
My sister passed 18 days after turning 56 years old. She is a Star that still shines bright in the loving heart of “Jackie’s People”. While I miss my sister with my whole heart. I also grieve the loss of the impact she would’ve had to the AHRC Community these last ten years all the people she would’ve recruited into “Jackie’s People” to join the mission or simply helped. So, I ask you to live like Jackie:
- Be an advocate for something you believe in with the heart of a Mother’s Love.
- Choose to find Joy in every day
- Build your “people” and love them like family.
Jackie’s journey was filled with both challenges and triumphs. She faced adversity with courage and grace. In memory of Jackie’s remarkable life and the impact she made, I am doing a fundraiser to support Citizens Options Unlimited, which is part of the AHRC Community a cause close to her heart as they have provided so much to her boys and family.
Your donation will help continue Jackie’s legacy of compassion and service, providing vital support to adults with autism residential and day programs that her boys participate in.
